Our office is unique in having a Board Certified MD Anesthesiologist on staff.
This facilitates the treatment of many dental patients who otherwise would have to
be seen in a hospital setting.
DENTAL PHOBICS
The dental phobic patient has a fear of dentistry. This fear, either real or
imagined, prevents the patient from being able to seek care. Usually we see these
patients during an emergency and realize that they have gone years between regular
visits. The most gratifying aspect of this care is that we can treat this patient
under general anesthesia. During the treatment, the patient is asleep with no
recall as to the procedures. In a short period of time we can repair years of neglect.
PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
The pediatric patient presents a management problem which can be addressed with
general anesthesia. In most cases, all of the required work is accomplished while
the patient is asleep. As the child grows up, they have no recollection of any
bad dental experiences and can be treated with standard modalities.
MEDICALLY COMPROMISED PATIENTS
Having the ability to sedate these patients can make their dental experience less
stressful and therefore a safer procedure.
SAFETY
All pediatric, phobic and medically compromised patients are seen for a
consultation prior to any procedures. At this appointment, medical and dental
problems are reviewed and a plan for both the anesthetic and dental needs discussed.
Our facilities are fully accredited with the Dental Board of California to provide
general anesthesia. All required safety equipment and drugs are available.
